As luck would have it, on Thursday, June 27th, Laura and Jason are both out of town at weddings. Also, as luck would have it, the Solomon Douglas Quartet will be passing through town on his way to play the Greenville Lindy Exchange and will be stopping off at the Thursday night dance at The Lindy Lab to play for RDU Rent Party.
So with Laura and Jason out of town, the night will descend into a rodent rumpus the likes of which may not be seen again. Cheesy songs will be played and shenanigans will ensue. The cupboard will be laid bare for snacking and the band will walk off with the lion’s share (all) of the door collections. And we will just have to hope that it doesn’t turn into this kind of mouse party.
Solomon Douglas is the alma mater bandleader of RDU Rent Party as well as our most frequently hosted band. While Solomon’s groups vary in size and composition, what never wavers is that he has been an eternal crowd favorite and swings hard at Rent Party. Solomon often employs local musicians when he travels, so you often have a high likelihood of seeing a few musicians from the Mint Julep Jazz Band make an appearance when he plays in the Triangle. We had a very special theme planned for the next time he arrives, but with both organizers out of town, we decided to postpone that until next time.
As always, RDU Rent Party is a pay-what-you-can dance with a suggested $10 donation with all donations going directly to the band.
